Empowering Local Communities
A Beacon of Hope for a Thriving Nile
VeryNile’s commitment extends far beyond. We believe in building a holistic future for Nile communities, where families prosper in a healthy and sustainable environment. Qursaya Island stands as a testament to this vision, serving as a model for transforming the lives of those who depend on the Nile.
Ongoing Community Development Projects
Waste Management
Building a clean future, preventing waste from going into the Nile, one kilo at a time. We implement community clean-ups, install waste bins, to encourage responsible waste disposal.
Health Services
Ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare for all. We’ve established an on-island medical response capability. A dedicated team member from Qursaya island is undergoing comprehensive first aid training to serve as the initial responder in case of emergencies and contact needed doctors. Our fully equipped clinic, and weekly volunteer doctors, further reinforces our commitment to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all VeryNile employees.
Capacity Development
By offering literacy, math, and essential life skills training, we empower Qursaya residents to become active contributors to their community’s growth.
Kids of the Nile Program
The Kids of the Nile program provides holistic development for 60 island children. We nurture young environmental stewards through biodiversity education and hands-on activities. To complement their academic growth, we offer math and Arabic classes. Our creative workshops, including filmmaking and songwriting, ignite their passions. Additionally, we provide on-site childcare to support working parents at VeryNile.
Community Garden & Farmers Development
Cultivating self-sufficiency and food security. We aim to establish a community garden and train farmers in sustainable agricultural practices, fostering economic growth and food security. While providing the community kitchen Shoka w Megdaf with fresh ingredients.
We’re further expanding our efforts by launching a rooftop gardening project in Assiut to maximize our impact.
Qursaya Football Team
Sports are essential for a thriving community. Qursaya island now has its own football team, complete with regular training sessions, dedicated equipment, and skilled coaches. Our team has +40 champions!
